We emphasize annual eye examinations for patients wearing visual correction and for patients over the age of 40. More frequent evaluations may be necessary for contact lenses patients and for those patients being monitored for ocular disease.
Children should have their first visual evaluation at age 3 or 4 years. They should be seen earlier if you suspect symptoms of a vision problem such as frequent eye infections, wandering eyes, or squinting. Early diagnosis of vision problems with corrective intervention is important for developmental skills. At age 6 or 7 years, a complete eye examination determines if the eyes are working efficiently for reading and writing. These skills lay the groundwork for all learning.
Eye examinations include muscle balance evaluation, basic neurological testing, eye health evaluation including glaucoma and cataract testing, and retinal examination. The most appropriate correction for your vision problem will be determined. Further testing is performed if indicated. We prescribe certain medications for the eyes when medically indicated.
Contact lens examinations also include measuring the eyes for lenses, fitting lenses on the eyes, dispensing the lenses with solutions and instructions, and follow up visits for three months as needed. We prescribe all types of contact lenses including custom design.
Eyeglasses - We maintain the best selection of quality frames in the area including David Yurman, Coach, Prada, Bvlgari, and Burburry. We have the newest sports glasses and sunwear. Our trained and licensed optical staff is helpful in eyeglass selection and will discuss any tints, coatings, thin lens designs, bifocals, or special frame requirements with you in order to make you most comfortable.
Laser Vision Corrections - Our office is affiliated with the major Laser Vision Correction Centers in our area. Our staff and doctors will educate, schedule, and co-manage your care throughout your procedures. Ask a staff member for information - many of them have even had it done.
Technology - During your annual eye examination, you will enjoy our state of the art instrumentation including automated corneal measurement, computerized glasses prescription derivation, and peripheral vision testing. Our doctors keep abreast of new technology by attending industry meetings several times each year.
